R&S Plating is a well-respected Kentucky metal plating company has been around for over 70 years. We offer many services such as cadmium plating, hard chrome plating, zinc plating, copper plating, and more. In addition, we offer metal-related services like nital etching, baking, while layer removal, passivation, and comprehensive masking.
What is the Purpose of Metal Plating?
The goal of metal plating is to protect and strengthen the object or product you bring to us. Without this layer of metal, the item is more fragile and can be affected worse by friction and corrosion. If your product goes untreated it will break down a lot faster than one with a metal overlay.
Our Method
Most of our projects are completed through our electroplating method. This method was introduced in the 1800s and has been revised and refined over time. During this process, a thin layer of metal coats the object. The object is placed in an electrolyte bath with an electric current running through it. This current causes a chemical reaction and allows the metal overlay to dissolve into the object and coat it.
Types of Metal Plating:
White Layer gives your metal the best care and removes the brittle layers off of your substrate after nitriding. We white layer all different parts such as shafts, rings, spacers, and more!
Cadmium Plating is often used to plate nuts, washers, bolts, magnets, timing mechanisms and more. Cadmium jobs are quick and are often completed in under 72 hours.
Zinc Plating is typically used for protection against rust and is often known as one of the most cost-effective applications. In addition, we now offer Black Zinc as well for any rack, wire, or barrel pieces.
Hard Chrome Plating is typically known for its durability and corrosion resistance. Hard chrome plating is used for shafts, tools, centrifuge bowls, aircraft parts, and more.
Copper Plating is often used for flanges, bearings, aircraft parts, and plate shafts. Copper plating has a high rating for conductivity.
Passivation Plating can increase the life of your metal. First, we five your part a deep clean, then submerge it in a chemical bath to give it a protective film. Passivation Plating is be used on aircraft components, vibratory bowls, vent systems, feeder bowls, and more!
