What is Black Zinc Plating
Black zinc plating is used to provide corrosion protection and anti-galling properties to parts in high wear, extreme temperatures and corrosive environments. It is accomplished by applying zinc plating followed by black chromate conversion plating.
The result is a uniform, durable coating providing corrosion and wear resistance as well as anti-galling properties. The surface color can range from matte to different iridescent hues. Black zinc is thicker than other plating methods, which may affect the dimensions of tight fitting parts.
Black Zinc Plating Uses
Black Zinc is utilized across many different industries including construction, automotive, firearm, furniture and electronics.
Black Zinc Plating is a complex process that few companies effectively provide. This process requires close attention to detail throughout every step, which is why it is so important to choose a company with experience. As leaders in the industry, R&S has offered black zinc plating for decades, so we know how to achieve a quality finish that provides maximum protection for parts.
Why Black Zinc Plating?
One of the biggest reasons that black zinc plating is preferred by many Chicago companies is the additional layer of protection it provides. Another benefit for Chicagoans is the durability of the finish. The dark black color, which can be finished in either glossy or matte, will not peel, chip, or rub off by hand. Black zinc plating can only be removed by chemicals or machines which means the final product will last for years.
